The Patrol Pro M3 is a palm-size indoor security camera that goes online two ways: through your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi at home, or through a 4G LTE SIM where there's no Wi-Fi to join. Stick it up, set it on its base and check in from your phone with the free WisdomCam app for iPhone and Android.

A slider on the side of the camera picks Off, Wi-Fi or 4G. Once both are set up, changing over takes one flick, with nothing to redo in the app. On Wi-Fi there's no SIM, no data plan and no monthly fee, and direct connect lets you view from your phone nearby with no internet at all.

A 1/3" CMOS sensor behind a 120° lens streams live view at up to 4K and saves recordings to a microSD card up to 128GB (sold separately) in 1080p Full HD. When the lights go out, invisible infrared switches on by itself and lets the camera see up to 26 feet in a dark room.

When the camera detects motion, it records the moment and sends a notification to your phone. Open the app to watch live, hear what's going on, or talk back through the built-in speaker. Family members can add the camera on their own phone by scanning its QR code.

There's nothing to drill and no outlet required. The magnetic back grabs steel surfaces, two adhesive plates cover walls and shelves, and the desk base swivels 360° and tilts to the angle you need.
